Chocolate bad for your health?


Chocolate origins from Aztecs in Mexico and derived from the word xocolat, which means bitter and water. Nowadays we have so many types of chocolate such as Milk chocolate, White chocolate, Dark chocolate, Sweet dark chocolate, Semi-sweet chocolate, Bittersweet chocolate and Unsweetened chocolate. Is chocolate bad for your heath? The answer is no if you take it moderately. This is based on Federal dietary guidelines which a person is recommend to take no more than 30% of daily fat diet. If you based on 2000 calories per day diet a 1.4 ounce of milk chocolate bar contain 210 calories and 13 grams of fat. The one milk chocolate bar alone can supply 20% and 65 gram of daily allowance fat.

Many chocolate manufacturer today, put more sugar in their product and more focus on the “sweet taste” rather that the original taste of chocolate. This have been reported that many brands in the market today have more than 30% of sugar level in their product. Choose wisely and check the ingredients first before you buy a chocolate.

The most favorable risk of excessive eating of chocolate is obesity as it will promote many disease. Nutritionist said that consume large amount of dark chocolate will reduce the cardiovascular disease but at the same time it will “cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face”
